Some good news form the police department; this afternoon a small ceremony was held at the Corozal Police Conference Room for the Officer of the Month for January, 2010.  He is detective constable Ricky Valencia, who since his 8 years with the force has been performing his duty in an outstanding and exemplary manner.  Ricky Valencia was enlisted into the Belize Police Department in 2002.  He was awarded first place in written examination on completion of his training.  He was first posted at Patrol Branch, Belize City and thereafter transferred to Belmopan Police Headquarters in August 2002.  In August 2006, Valencia was transferred to Corozal Police Formation where he was posted as a Detective Constable at the Special Branch Section.  During his Policing career Valencia underwent training in a Language exchange program in Guatemala, Caribbean Border Enforcement Training in Barbados and Special Branch intelligence gathering Course.
