With crime and violence on the rise, a number of partners are coming together to put off a youth forum this Saturday at the GPC in Belmopan. The male social participation violence research team, Youth for the Future, Conscious youth development project, The Ministry of Education, and The Ministry of National Security will be hosting the all day forum for some one hundred young people. Immediately following the forum, at about 3:30 pm, the youth in attendance at the forum will move over to the Independence park where the message of peace will be reiterated through a Hip Hop concert. The artist is the Honorable George “Rithm” Martinez from the United States. Rithm is a motivational hip hop artist who is also the founder of Global Block foundation. Rithm has been the first hip hop artist/activist elected to a political office in the US and is a former Doctoral fellow of political science at the City University of New York. Since 2007, he has served as US cultural Envoy/Hip Hop Ambassador for the US department of state, working with youth throughout Latin America. The concert is scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday at the Independence Park. It is free of cost and all are invited to attend.
